PANDEMIC SILVER-LININGS

Silver-linings are defined as "a sign of hope in an unfortunate or gloomy situation." The Covid-19 pandemic has certainly been a long and relentlessly gloomy situation. Many conversations with my community throughout this pandemic have been about experiences that are grievous and weary-making. But I have also shared sweet moments at work and around my … Continue reading PANDEMIC SILVER-LININGS

TASTE & SEE

It's Saturday morning.  I finally feel the space to simply be rather than do.  And so I make homemade bread. There is something about the slow place of bread making that is rejuvenating to my soul.  As I smell the earthy yeast; knead and shape the soft, silky dough; and create something beautiful out of … Continue reading TASTE & SEE

COOKIES WOULD MAKE ME FEEL BETTER

"Cookies would make me feel better." That was the calculated reply of my three-year-old son to his grandparents as they were leaving the hospital.  His baby brother entered the world that morning, and after meeting his 7 lb 8 oz sibling for the obligatory photo op, Corey was heading home to spend the night with … Continue reading COOKIES WOULD MAKE ME FEEL BETTER

There are no rules, of course, but I usually start with three cheeses, one soft. Three pickle-y/olive-y things, three kinds of cured meats, two or three … Continue reading PLATTERS & BOARDS

Welcome!

Beginning my career at midlife as a hospice Bereavement Coordinator was not a new path. It is the continuation of the hospitality I’ve practiced for nearly three decades. Sharing life around my table is valuable experience for learning how to be present with people gathered around a loved one’s bedside. This site is a place to explore how the practice of both hospitality and hospice care are teaching me how to live a meaningful life.

I’m so glad that you’re here.
